Memories from Inspiration
My Season of You

My Season of You
I remember the first day of winter
with the cold wind blowing through me
and snowflakes twirling, swirling, biting.
There you’d stand, strong against a season so bitter.
I remember your armor-coat against the wind’s whisper,
your peach-red cheeks, your smile, A lone wanderer in a cold, white sea.
With a grin and a laugh, you waved “hello,” beaming with glee.
In a treasure chest I stored that glee, precious gold and glitter.
But how quickly time melted, icicles dripping from a rooftop.
The seasons changed, and the wind and snow whisked you away,
leaving me behind in spring’s gentle, tender blue.
I watched you leave, and wept, my heart crushed by a hand so cruel.
My acid-tears burned, leaving scars beneath my skin, that day.
So now I remember winter alright, my bittersweet season of you.
